The Hawthorne Open Market will come to life Sunday September 4, 2011 with a celebration of food, a day
of music, and "Farm Fresh Art"   from 10am - 8pm.

The music will begin at noon and all shows are free.

The headliners for this event  will be The Shook Twins - beginning at 4:00 pm. These very talented sisters (who now make Portland their home) play an original blend of funky folk and bluegrass. The Shook Twins are a progressive acoustic folk duo, with Katelyn playing the guitar, slide, glockenspiel, and mandolin and Laurie playing the banjo, guitar, beatbox, djembe and ocarina, with both combining in "twin" harmony.

The days music will also include the original country rock of Leroy Jonson and the Geniuses, as well as a host of other musicians and a special performance by the Curious Comedy Theater.

Along with all the great food will be beer from Captured By Porches Brewing Company and wine from St. Johns Cellars.
The Hawthorne Open Market was inspired by the many open-air markets of the world and especially the neighborhood markets of Italy (where the locals shop daily with their favorite vendors for the freshest ingredients with which to create the day’s meal).  An assortment of creative local food purveyors are featured in the market, along with the farm fresh produce of Kruger's Farm Market and the fresh fish and local meats of The Flying Fish Company.

The Hawthorne Open Market will continue to be open each Sunday through December with vendor booths, food, music and art, while Kruger's Farm Market , The Flying Fish Co. and a selection of other fine food vendors will be open 7 days a week year round!

The  Mercato Fine Art Gallery is another feature of the Hawthorne Open Market  The September exhibit at the Gallery is entitled: "Farm Fresh Art",  and an Opening Reception will be held First Friday, September 2, 2011
